PERFORMED IDENTITY,
a fashion editorial for YOUTHIES MAGAZINE
Performed Identity is a fashion editorial that explores the construction and performative nature of identity.
How do I construct myself?
How do I present myself to the others?
Is identity something that is performed?
The narrative of the editorial metaphorically compares the performativity of the identity to a performance in a show, depicting models in a dressing room where they put on makeup and get dressed to go on stage. On stage, the construction of identity is dramatized with garments hanging around, which the models put on during the performance, adding more and more layers to their identity. Finally, candles and a crown glorify and portray identity as something saccred, because although identityty fluctuates, it is something e must care for and respect.
